Conservation Goals

The Siene Rat Roseau Watershed District Soil Health Transition Program focuses on soil health improvement, biodiversity and habitat enhancement, and carbon sequestration. Its aim is to enhance soil health and promote overall sustainability.

Eligible Lands

Eligible landscapes include croplands, rangelands, or pasturelands in the Seine Rat Roseau Watershed District.

Additional Details

  • Eligible projects include planting cover crops, diversifying plant life, and implementing innovative soil management practices.

  • Landowners must notify the Watershed District in the event of a change in ownership or rental status, and must also grant staff access to the project location for monitoring purposes.

Commitment

The landowner commits to 3 years, subject to the agreement's terms and conditions.

Incentive

The Siene Rat Roseau Watershed District offers the following incentives:

Cover crops

  • 50% of costs (up to $50/acre up to a maximum of $5000 per year for three years)

Pasture management and innovation projects 

  • 50% of costs (up to $10000)
