Conservation Goals

The Siene Rat Roseau Watershed District Livestock Management Program focuses on water quality improvement, erosion control, and wildlife habitat enhancement. Its aim is to protect natural resources while supporting livestock producers.

Eligible landscapes include croplands, rangelands, or pasturelands in the Seine Rat Roseau Watershed District.

Commitment

Infrastructure installation commitment is dependent on the landowner.

Incentive

The program offers cost-sharing for infrastructure and labor. This includes:

Exclusion fencing (for dugouts and waterways) 

  • 75% of the cost of materials and installation for a two strand electric fence with up to 40 ft. post spacing

Alternative watering systems

  • Up to 75% of materials and labour associated with watering systems of waterways (up to $7500)  

  • 75% for watering systems for dugouts (up to $5,000)

Livestock crossings

  • Up to $1000

Swinging fences

  • Up to $1000

Cross river fencing 

  • Up to $1000

Riparian and dugout fencing, alternative watering systems and livestock crossing improvement 

  • 75% of establishment cost
