Program Summary

Saskatchewan's Resilient Agricultural Landscapes Program (RALP) provides funding to producers to increase the environmental resiliency of agricultural land. The program helps producers achieve outcomes related to water quality, soil health and biodiversity through the adoption of beneficial management practices.

Conservation Goals

The conservation goals of Saskatchewan's RALP reducing agricultural pressures on wildlife habitat, increasing habitat opportunities for wildlife.

Eligible Lands

The program is open to Saskatchewan agricultural producers (individual, partnership or corporation) who can demonstrate a minimum of $50,000 in gross farm income in Saskatchewan, and First Nation Bands in the Province of Saskatchewan. Crown Land Pasture Associations in Saskatchewan are eligible for Land Use and Grazing Management BMPs as well as the Sulphate Water Treatment BMP.

Additional Details

  • Separate applications must be made for each eligible project.

  • Projects must have started on or after April 1, 2023, and be completed with claim submitted within 18 months of project approval, or by March 31, 2028, whichever is earlier.

  • Applications for rebate must be received on or before March 31, 2028.

  • Each BMP has its own eligible expense, explained in the individual BMP Guidelines in the pre-approval or rebate sections on the web site.

Commitment

Landowners apply for support to adopt selected BMPs over a three year term, chosen from the following:

Land Use

  • Seeding Forage - Tame Forage Stream

  • Seeding Forage - Native Forage Stream

  • Targeted Grazing

Grazing Management

  • Grazing Management - Native Rangeland Stream

  • Grazing Management - Riparian Stream

  • Rangeland Health Assessment

Livestock Stewardship

  • Intensive Livestock Management

  • Extensive Wintering Site Management

  • Livestock Water Protection

  • Sulphate Water Treatment

Incentive

Participants are eligible for the following incentives (details are included in the individual BMP Guidelines in the pre-approval or rebate sections on the web site):

Land Use

  • Seeding Forage - Tame Forage Stream (50 per cent, max $30,000 to $60,000)

  • Seeding Forage - Native Forage Stream (90 per cent, max $30,000)

  • Targeted Grazing (50 per cent, max $50,000)

Grazing Management

  • Grazing Management - Native Rangeland Stream (60 per cent, max $20,000)

  • Grazing Management - Riparian Stream (60 per cent, max $20,000)

  • Rangeland Health Assessment (50 per cent, max $10,000)

Livestock Stewardship

  • Intensive Livestock Management (30 to 70 per cent, max $200,000)

  • Extensive Wintering Site Management (60 per cent, max $50,000)

  • Livestock Water Protection (90 per cent, max $20,000)

  • Sulphate Water Treatment

Important to Know

  • The Saskatchewan RALP program is funded by the Government of Canada's Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and the Government of Saskatchewan.

  • Must have a Saskatchewan Premises Identification (PID) number.

  • As a condition to access program funding, applicants are required to review the Agri-Environmental Risk Assessment before beginning their project.

  • Projects located in environmentally sensitive areas may have special requirements.

  • Written authorization from the landowner is required if the project involves construction and is located on land not owned by the applicant.
