The OFCAF program is focused on increasing carbon storage and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Eligilbe lands include pastureland and rangeland in Alberta.
Additional Details
Interested landowners must first register in the 'Impact System', set up their farm as an organization, and access the OFCAF program. A rotational grazing plan is required, which can be self-prepared, completed using the CFGA's template, or developed with support of a grazing mentor, online course, or workshop. Applicants then complete and submit their application, uploading their grazing plan and signed terms and conditions. Applicants are reviewed within 3-4 weeks, after which approved producers can begin their preojects, while unsuccessful applicants receive feedback to revise and reapply. Commitment
To receive the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) funding, producers must commit to developing and implementing a rotational grazing plan, covering 30% of the costs, and using new or expanded practices only. They may be subject to follow-up site visits, and must maintain records and submit claims through the 'Impact System'.
Incentive
The Canadian Forage and Grassland Association (CFGA) delivers the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF), offering a cost-share funding model where the program covers 70% of eligible expenses, and the producer contributes 30%. Producers can receive up to $100,000 over the program's duration to support rotational grazing practices. Eligible expenses include:
Developing a grazing plan
Fencing
Water systems
Pasture improvements

Important to Know
The On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) requires that producers have Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) farm identification (GST number, minimum gross income)
Previously funded land cannot receive funding for the same practice again, but new plans or different BMPs may be eligible
Producers are encouraged to complete the CFGA's Advanced Grazing Systems course for additional support in developing the grazing plan
